Lillian B. Franke, nee Becherer, 99, of Belleville, IL, born January 18, 1923, in Belleville, IL, died Thursday, August 18, 2022, at her residence.

Mrs. Franke was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and former member of the Smithton Senior Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hamilton W. Franke; a son, Steve R. Franke; a daughter in infancy, Sandra S. Franke; her parents, Leo and Louisa, nee Baechle, Becherer; six brothers, Henry T. (Nora) Becherer, Lawrence W. Becherer, Lester J. Becherer, Herbert J. Becherer, Leander J. (Marcella) Becherer, Irvin J. (Johanna) Becherer; and two sisters, Elvira C. Huling and Adeline A. (Hilbert) Fournie; a brother-in-law, Robert Stauder; and a sister-in-law, Mary Louise (Delmar) Cook.

She is survived by her son, Jeff L. (Angela) Franke;
two grandchildren, Mark A. Franke and Lisa A. (Matthew) Smith;
four great-grandchildren, Kaylee Franke, Beckett Franke, Colette Smith and Nathan Smith;
a daughter-in-law, Norma L. Franke;
a sister, Marcella “Sally” Stauder;
a sister-in-law, Carol A. Becherer;
and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Gail Spencer, for the loving care given to Lillian over the last several years.

Memorials may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, or Cathedral of St. Peter Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, or to the Poor Clare Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, Belleville, IL. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

A private family burial will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

To my last Aunt,,, you were such a special part of my life,, a beautiful , special lady…the summers you and Steve spent wit the Cooks were such special times…memories that will stay with me until I join you,,,Jeff was such a gift you gave us,, it made all our life’s complete,,,until I see you again. Please accept sandy and my condolences on the death of your mother. She was a fighter to the end and is now.in a better place. You and Angi are to be commended for what you have done for your mother throughout her joutney.
