Lorene was a homemaker. She was member of the Pinochle Club, and an avid bowler, having played in leagues at the YMCA and Bel-Air Bowl. She was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Lorene was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church. Having and in-home daycare, she touched many children’s lives. Lorene loved spending time with family and friends and was blessed with many wonderful neighbors.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Reinhold “Bud” A. Wachter, whom she married on April 11, 1953, and who died on June 1, 2012; her parents, Arthur and Erna, nee Engert, Pilz; a brother, Clarence Pilz, and two sisters, Olga Hecht and Lorna Gerler.
Surviving are her four children, Rev. Keith (Sharon) Wachter of O’Fallon, MO, Debra (Richard) Juenger of Millstadt, IL, Pamela (Don) Monroe of Waterloo, IL, and Susan (Tom) Ackerman of Swansea, IL;
eight grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Petot of St. Charles, MO, Troy (Wendy) Petot of Belleville, IL, Brett (Cara) Wachter of Las Vegas, NV, Scott Wachter of Wentzville, MO, Christopher Monroe of Waterloo, IL, Kelli Monroe of Waterloo, IL, Aaron Ackerman of Swansea, IL,and Brianna Ackerman of Swansea, IL;
two great-granddaughter, Victoria E. Petot and Olivia M. Petot;
and a sister, Nelda Starzinger of Cape Girardeau, MO.

Private burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
