Louise Frieda Joergens, nee Tegtmeier, 99, of Belleville, IL, born June 15, 1921, in Freeburg, IL, died Monday, March 8, 2021, at Cedar Ridge Health & Rehab, Lebanon, IL.

Mrs. Joergens was a 1939 graduate of Belleville Township High School and worked as an ophthalmologist assistant until she was in her 70’s. She loved fitting glasses expertly to her patients’ faces. Louise also loved to dance and danced frequently at the Casa Loma Ballroom in St. Louis. She was a skilled seamstress with a great sense of style and a practiced card shark, frequently beating friends and family at bridge and pinochle.

Louise was a life-long member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Belleville, attending weekly when she was able, and zooming in later years. She was also a member of the American Business Women’s Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband of five years, Lorraine E. Joergens whom she married on July 6, 1946, and who died on April 17, 1952; her parents, Walter Sr. and Frieda, nee Dohrmann, Tegtmeier; siblings, Florence Dinwiddie, Marie Geminn, Walter Tegtmeier Jr., and Shirley Kennedy; brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Renee Sue Joergens and Philip A. Hirsch of Shoreline, WA; two grandchildren, Phoenix Renee Hirsch and Rebecca Marie Hirsch; a sister, Audrey Krummrich; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral:  Private memorial services will be held at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.

I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Lou's passing. She was the wife of my Mom's twin brother, Lorraine, who we knew simply as Uncle Bud. I was 11 when he died. My prayers are with Renee and her family.
