Marty was a beloved grandmother, mother, sister and daughter. Encouraged from a young age to pursue her education, she completed two masters’ level programs and pursued a doctorate in education. Marty had a 30+ year teaching career in the Warren Woods Public School District outside Detroit, MI.  For several years prior to retirement, she taught at-risk high school students, whom she would recall later in life with great fondness.

Fiercely independent, she was a considerate neighbor and friend, an encouraging and supportive mother, and a doting Gram and Gaga to her grandchildren. Marty was also a passionate animal lover. She served on the board of the Humane Society of Belleville, where she rescued her cherished pets Sophie, Copper, Mitzi and Josephine.

She was preceded in death by her parents Asay and Pauline, nee Martin, Shear.

Surviving are three sons, Dr. William A. Chadwick of Belleville, IL,
Kenneth A. (Teri) Chadwick of St. Louis, MO,
and Christopher S. Chadwick of Ann Arbor, MI;
six grandchildren,  Allison Chadwick, Jessica Crisp, Joshua Chadwick,

three great-grandchildren, Emmalynn Crisp, Eastyn Crisp, and Novalie Chadwick;
and a sister, Mary (Dr. William) Reed of Kansas City, MO.
