Marguerite M. Dauphin, nee Lampe, 90, of Belleville, IL, born November 20, 1933, to Leo and Martha A., nee Kues, Lampe, died Monday, April 22, 2024, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.

Marguerite had a happy childhood and was raised in Aviston, IL and East St. Louis, IL. She graduated from St. Teresa Academy Class of 1951. Marguerite was the class president and class valedictorian. She lived in the same home in Belleville, IL, for 63 years until moving to Troy, IL, in 2018.

She was a very proud catholic and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, and had served as past president of the St. Mary’s Mothers Club and was a member of the Parish Council. She had also served as a past room mother, den mother, and worked with the Brownies.

Marguerite was a loving wife and was very proud of her husband’s service as a paratrooper in the Army. She was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Kenneth L. Dauphin, whom she married on June 2, 1952, and who died on May 22, 2014; a son, Stephen J. Dauphin; her parents, Leo and Martha, nee Kues, Lampe; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John E. and Goldie V., nee Boisseau, Dauphin; a brother-in-law, John Richard Dauphin; two sisters-in-law, Pat (William), nee Dauphin, South and Joann (Zanglis), nee Dauphin, Crow; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and sister-cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.

Surviving are her cherished sons and daughters, Donald K. Dauphin, Gregory L. (Debra) Dauphin, Susan M. (Michael) Kern, Christopher J. (Tammy) Dauphin, and Jane A. (Bill) Marten; granddaughters who gave her much love and joy, Sarah C. Kern and Jessica R. (Lindsey Croteau) Kern; three great-grandchildren, Kade and Avalon Lawrence and Kala Goad; her godchild, Kathy Marguerite (Bill) Nugent; nieces and nephews, Pamela K. Dauphin and Stephanie L., Steven, and Daniel Stovey; dear cousins-in-law; friends, Mary Ellen and Glen Soucy; and many other dear family members.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
