Born December 8, 1926, in East St. Louis, IL, Mrs. O’Brien graduated from St. Patrick’s Grade School and St. Teresa Academy. On February 15, 1947, she wed Jack O’Brien, to whom she was married for 64 years before his death in 2011.
Mrs. O’Brien was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, St. Clair Women’s Club, and St. Teresa Academy “Club 44”. For several years she resided at Grand Manor in Swansea, where she made many wonderful friends. Most recently, she made her home at St. Paul’s. Her family is grateful for the good people at St. Paul’s who took such loving, tender care of her.
Mrs. O’Brien was also preceded in death by her parents, Leo J. and Marie Antoinette, nee Savard, Dougherty; her brother, Donald J. Dougherty; her infant brother, Leo; and her nephew, Donald J. Dougherty Jr.
Surviving are her daughter, Ellen (Steven) Martin of Sammamish, WA;
two grandchildren, Michael (Dominique) Martin of Sammamish, WA,
and Katherine Martin of Sammamish WA, and Manhattan Beach, CA;
four great-grandchildren, Magdalene, Christopher,
Thomas and Patrick O’Brien Martin, all of Sammamish, WA;
and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, September17, 2016, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Caseyville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 noon Saturday, September 17, 2016, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Raymond Schultz and Msgr. John T. Myler concelebrating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
