Marjorie “Peg” F. Patton, 93, of Freeburg, IL, born August 12, 1927, in Lively Grove Township, Washington County, IL, died Thursday, January 28, 2021, at St. Paul’s Senior Community, Belleville, IL. She was a resident of Cedar Trails Senior Living in Freeburg.

Peg was a secretary for the St. Louis Board of Education for 35 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Freeburg and the Women’s Guild at the church.  She was a member of the Freeburg Women’s Club and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Fund.  She was a friend of the Freeburg Area Library.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Ruth, nee Kirkwood, Patton; and her siblings, Virginia Hogshead, Elizabeth Fulton, Rose Patton, Kenneth Patton, Marie Patton, Dorothy Campbell, Robert Patton, Arlene Hagebusch, and William Patton.

Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Darlene Fritz, Lee Fulton, Jim Hogshead, Linda Dosztan, Mike Campbell, Pat Campbell, Tim Campbell, Terry Campbell, Kathy Bartolotta, Jack Campbell, Bonnie Bickel, Jan Miller, and Beth Schneider.  Peg is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

 Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Freeburg or the Freeburg Area Library. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Tilden Cemetery, Tilden, IL.

Oh, Peg, I will miss sitting near you at Woman’s Club meetings. All of us will think of you fondly. You always did so much for our club. You were such a joy to be around. I will miss you as a friend, too. Rest In Peace, Dear Friend. Janet Baechle Friend and President of the Freeburg Woman’s Club.

I loved Peg very much, and I always looked forward to seeing her, she was always a ray of sunshine! I’m absolutely sure she’s resting comfortably at the bosom of Christ.
