Print Obituary
Mark Daniel Marhanka, 37, of Freeburg, IL, born February 11, 1979, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

Mark lived in Freeburg most of his life and attended Freeburg Grade School.  He was a 1997 graduate of Freeburg Community High School.  In his younger years, Mark played football and soccer in high school.  After graduation he went to work in the construction industry as a roof, plasterer, sheet metal worker, and other home remodeling trades.  He was very mechanically inclined and loved to work on motorcycles as well as ride them.  Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing for the big catfish and hanging out with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his older brother, Bruce Kevin Marhanka who died in 1981; his grandparents, Hugo and Cecelia, nee Schmierbach, Rohr and Fred and Florence, nee Watson, Marhanka.

Surviving are his parents, Frank and Kathleen, nee Rohr, Marhanka;
two brothers, Edward (Michelle) Marhanka,
and Jeffrey (Kristine) Marhanka;
three nephews, Nick, Travis, and Trent;
one niece, Taylor;
and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mark was a loving son, brother and uncle who had a beautiful smile, a huge heart and would help out any friend or family member without question.  Mark’s family and friends tried on numerous occasions to get him the help he needed to live a healthy and happy life.  He will never be forgotten and hopefully, his death, by talking about an addiction, will save the life of another.
