Mark Anthony Pope, 54, of Dupo, IL, born October 29, 1960, in Belleville, IL, died Thursday, July 2, 2015, at his residence.

A 1979 graduate of Belleville Township High School East, Mark worked as a large machine technician for Ryder Transportation Company.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors.  He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and a retired member of the 100 Miles An Hour Club.  Mark was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward L. Pope Sr. and Rosemarie B., nee Bauer, Pope.

Surviving are his daughter, Miranda Pope of Shiloh, IL;
four sisters, Rosalie Schlarman,
Jeanine Kortes,
and Beverly (Larry) Closterman, all of Belleville, IL,
and Mary (Jack) Oesterle of Kirkwood, MO;
and his brother, Edward Jr. (Margie) Pope of Shiloh, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or to the Belleville Area Humane Society.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Interment with military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

My deepest sympathy to the Pope Family. I grew up with Mark in our old Belleville neighborhood. We spent many years together and I have many fond memories as youngsters growing up. It was a wonderful time in all our lives. God Bless everyone in the Pope Family.
