Martha grew up in Belleville, born to Lawrence and Zita, nee Becker, Gain.  She moved to Merrillville, IN, in 2011 to be closer to her daughter where she enjoyed living in her first apartment. She moved to Clarendale Senior Living in Schererville, IN in 2018, still enjoying her independence and being involved in many of the amenities of Clarendale, including bingo, ambassador’s club, LCR dice games, crafts and entertainment.

Due to Covid-19 they were most generous, allowing her daughter to stay with her in her independent living apartment to take care of her. Also special thanks to Unity Hospice of Merrillville, IN for their advice and support.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Norman J. Zbornak; her parents, Lawrence and Zita Gain; brothers, Hank Gain and Skip Gain; and sisters, Mary Ann Gain, Catherine Pickard, and JoAnn Papproth.

I heard about Martha's passing from Gertie Wasser. I kept in touch with Martha (always enjoyed her and her nice smile) and did not hear from her this past Christmas. My mother was a sister to Norman's father. I have some pictures I would like to send to either Paul Joseph or Marilyn.

Martha was a member of Catholic Holy Family Society (Catholic Fraternal Life) and was active in the Belleville Women's Council until she moved away. This made me so sad to see that she passed away. But how glorious and fitting for her to enter the gates of heaven on Easter Sunday! We all loved Martha in the home office. She would stop by periodically to drop off her paperwork. She was so so sweet. Please know your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace Martha. Fondly, Mary Barbara Kurtz CHFS
