Marvin L. Pruett, 83, of Belleville, IL, born February 7, 1937, in Peoria, IL, died Sunday, January 3, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Pruett had a passion for fast cars and was the owner and operator of Marv’s Auto Service, Marv’s Race Place, and Marv’s Scooter Place. He was a lifetime member of the Allied Auto Racing Association. He was a member of the Mascoutah Moose Lodge #815 and a parishioner of St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Mary, nee Smail, Pruett; three brothers, Lewis Pruett, Ralph (Bobbie) Pruett, and Larry Pruett; and a sister, Rosemary (Mac) Sloane.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Alvina, nee Schilling, Pruett, whom he married on September 9, 1959;
a daughter, Barbara Sue Will of Belleville, IL;
a granddaughter, Stephanie McCall;
three great-grandchildren, Breanna Santel, Bailey McCall, and Braxton McCall;
two sisters-in-law, Juanita Pruett and Sally Pruett;
and his Goddaughter, Jennifer (Reid) McClain.

He is taking his final checkered flag to the raceway to Heaven.

 Funeral: A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Elmwood Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.

Alvina my deepest sympathy to you and family. Carl met Marv at heaven's gate and I know they are sharing all kinds of racing stories. It is so difficult. I know we will be united with our loves in God's time. Until then

Alvina and Barbie My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Marvin was always a joke teller and full of laughter. I will never forget all the times he drove around the block and stopped just to make us smile. We all know he's in heaven racing and will always watch over you.

I’m sorry to hear of Marvin’s passing.. we were all family growing up.. He was always friendly, laughing and playing jokes. Growing up, us the kids were like brothers and sisters...years take their toll. Miss all the good old days....Erma

Alvina and Barbie...Mom and I send our greatest condolences with the passing of Marv. You three paid a big part of my mom's youth as well as mine. So many memories....too many to list here. Hugs to you all and know that so many stories from my mom as a teenager or my youth end up having you guys mentioned somewhere in it. You all are special to us.

Alvina, Barb and everyone- l was greatly saddened to hear of Marv's passing. He was an awesome spouse, father, grandfather , great grandfather and Godfather. He set a wonderful example by working hard and playing harder. I know you kept him in line, Al. He lives on through you now, and he was a winner.
