Mary Ann attended SIUE Edwardsville and received her master’s degree in Anthropology. She worked as the sole proprietor of Mary Ann Brauer Real Estate Appraisals. Mary Ann was a member of the Belleville Historical Society, the Belleville Community Development Corporation, and the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Frances, nee Moses, Eschmann; a sister, Susan M. Matzenbacher; a brother, Charles J. Eschmann; a sister, Allene (Elmer) Frees; and a sister-in-law, Betty Eschmann.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Charles M. “Mick” Halusan; two sons, Drew (Debbie) Brauer and Dirk Brauer; a daughter, Dundee Brauer; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Halusan; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers-in-law, David Matzenbacher and Thomas (Joan) Halusan;

As a final act of kindness, Mary Ann donated her body to Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
