Mary Ann Dahlmann, 75, of Alton, IL, formerly of Belleville, IL, born October 14, 1940, in Belleville, IL, died Friday, May 20, 2016, at her residence.

Mary Ann was employed by U.S. Steel in Granite City, Illinois, before her retirement.  A member of the 1958 graduating class of Notre Dame Academy, Belleville, Illinois, she was a kind and gentle soul with many friends who enjoyed her company.  She loved her God and prayed that she would never be a burden to the people in her world.  Mary Ann enjoyed her family and appreciated all the holiday gatherings.  She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Edwardsville, IL.

Miss Dahlmann was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Sr. and Sophia, nee Moessinger, Dahlmann; and two brothers and two sisters-in-law, William J. Jr. (Kathryn) Dahlmann, and Robert C. (Laverna “Dee”) Dahlmann.

Surviving are one sister, Helen Marie (Roy) Kloess of Belleville, IL;
many nieces and nephews;
great-nieces and great-nephews;
cousins; friends, Robin and Jake Hake;
and close friend and caregiver, Darlene Croft.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Darlene Croft and to Hospice of Southern Illinois for their kind and gentle care of Mary Ann.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 110 North Buchanan St., Edwardsville, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the church with Fr. Jeffrey Goeckner officiating.  Burial will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

I know Aunt Mary Ann is happy at her new home in heaven. I can’t help but feel that if only I had taken the opportunity to know her better, I would be a significantly different person. My she rest in peace.

Mary Ann was a wonderful, kind person who loved her family, her church, her friends and her job. She loved to give to others–at Christmas she always made sure we got our chocolates! Mary Ann was very special and will be missed.
