Mary Rita Arterburn, nee Nolan, 87, of Belleville, IL, born November 7, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Arterburn worked in the maternity and medical records departments at St. Elizabeth Hospital and retired after 20 years of service to care for her grandchildren. Mary Rita loved to travel, especially with her husband Tom. She was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, and the St. Clair County Women’s Club. She was a loved and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Tom” J. Arterburn; and her parents, Robert and Adele, nee Wiegers, Nolan.

Surviving are a son, Thomas R. (Adriana) Arterburn;
two grandchildren, Katy and Patrick Arterburn;
a brother-in-law, Robert Arterburn;
a sister-in-law, Pat Thomas;
and nieces and nephews.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2022, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Rita and I were friends from about age 11 through STA. Always sweet and kind and very thoughtful. Always good memories.

My mom , Anna (Saul) Miller was a very good friend of Rita and I knew her from Memorial. What a lovely, giving soul she was. This earth will not be the same without her on it. Blessings.

Tom & Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Rita was such a sweet, kind lady and always had a smile on her face. It was a pleasure to bring her communion. God bless all of you & many prayers 🙏🙏🙏.
