Mary J. Wagner, nee Rothgangel, 93, of Swansea, IL, born March 11, 1926, in Belleville, IL, died Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at her residence.

Mrs. Wagner enjoyed her membership with the Silver Bells & Beau dance group.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Virgil E. Wagner, whom she married on July 13, 1946, and who died on August 22, 1997; her parents, Edwin and Bessie, nee Wilderman, Rothgangel; a daughter, Martha Jean Wagner; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Wagner; and a great-granddaughter, Alexus Paige Wagner.

Surviving are a son, Michael J. Wagner of Seattle, WA;
two daughters, Sara E. (Mark) Boyd of Freeburg, IL, and Rebecca L. Beatty of Swansea, IL;
eight grandchildren, Erica, Kyle, Gavin, Kristi, Jeffrey, Christopher, Erin (Reed) Fisher, and Hannah (fiancé, Quinn Bress);
10 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Seth, Corinne, Helena, Charlie, Katelin, Graham, Cammy, Quin, and Kaylee;
a sister, Martha (Pete) Blom of Michigan;
and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Funeral:  A private family service will be held, with Mr. Mark Boyd officiating.

Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.

Miss Mary was a big part of my early childhood escapades and I hold so many memories from that time. May you all find peace in her passing and know that she is ever so near and will always be with you. Much love to everyone, but extra kisses for my friend Kristi XO Nikki

Wagner Family, My condolences to you in the loss of your mother. I have fond memories of Becky and Sara at Belle Valley.. Portia and I got one of your puppies back in the 70’s. Mike, I got to know you when we played on the Hilgards. Great times. Again, so sorry for your loss. Portia and Rich Binder

I’m so sorry for the loss of Mary. Such a wonderful woman with a beautiful spirit. Will always remember watching her light up to dress in her dance uniform and show Kristi and I her favorite tap dances. I will be praying for her family. RIP Mary

Mike, I’m sorry about your mother. I was your 5th grade tea- cher at Jefferson. You were a little blonde 11 year old. I was 20 and it Was my first year teaching. You always remember your first class. I wish you and yours the best in the future. Delores Barton Revelle
