Mary Sue Walters, nee Rowe, 92, of Shiloh, IL, formerly of East St. Louis, IL, born November 16, 1925, in East St. Louis IL, died peacefully at her home Sunday, January 21, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Mary Sue was a 1943 graduate of Collinsville High School.  She then attended St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1946, and then entered the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps.  She later worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in the pediatric and polio unit for more than nine years, retiring in 1955.  She returned to nursing at Touchette Regional Hospital, working in the newborn nursery for an additional ten years.

Mary Sue was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Centreville, IL since 1947. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Kenneth William Walters, whom she married at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in 1947, and who died in 2005; and her parents, Elmer S. and Lenora, nee Haily, Rowe.

Surviving are two daughters, Teresa (Charles) Ewell of Johnston City, IL, and Mary Walters of Shiloh, IL;
grandchildren, Lisa (Keith) Kowalis of Holmen, WI, Philip Kowalis of Johnston City, IL, Crystal Osman of  Shiloh, IL, Marsha (Jill) Lively of Swansea, IL, Sophia Walters of East St. Louis, IL, Teetonka Blackhorn of Shiloh, IL;
great-grandchildren, Lauren, Christopher, Allyssa MaryJo, Paige, Alexis, Morgan and Colton;
a great-great-granddaughter, Elena;
many cousins;
and God-children.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Cahokia, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Cahokia, IL, with Fr. Elmar Mauer officiating.

Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Centreville, IL.
