
Mr. Mehrmann was a parts manager for Empire Comfort Systems for 31 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Smithton Turner Society and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Floraville, IL. He was a U. S. Army Korean War veteran and a member of the Smithton American Legion Post 937.
Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur C. and Clara M., nee Wagner, Mehrmann; two sisters, Lillian Mehrmann and Verida (Leroy) Franke, and a brother, Walter J. (Virginia) Mehrmann.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Gladys I., nee Kuhn, Mehrmann, whom he married June 30, 1951;
a son, Terry W. (Darla) Mehrmann of Smithton, IL;
a daughter, Connie Sue (Brad) Stiehl of Belleville, IL;
three grandchildren, Jeremy Mehrmann, Jennifer (Keith) Czapla, and Jonathan (Amanda) Mehrmann;
and six great-grandchildren, Victoria Page, Brittaney Page, Allison Page, Mackenzie Czapla, Gavin Mehrmann, and Natalie Mehrmann.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Floraville, IL. An American Legion ritual will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Floraville, IL, with Rev. Matt Friz officiating.
Burial with military honors will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
