Michael E. Logan, 76, of Swansea, IL, born September 10, 1947, in East St. Louis, IL, died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Evelyn’s House, Creve Coeur, MO.

Mr. Logan was a dedicated educator and for 32 years worked at Wolf Branch School, Swansea, IL. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in music from SIU, Edwardsville, IL. He served as a teacher, coach, music teacher, band director, and play director. Mike was inspired to teach after attending Signal Hill Grade School for nine years where he developed a very close bond with his classmates who remained friends for life. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing the trumpet, and working on various projects around his home. He was a wonderful stepfather and especially loved to travel with his family. Mike was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Ruth, nee Kuhn, Logan; two sisters, Karen Ash, and Janice Kohlmer; and a brother-in-law, Don Davis.

Surviving are his dear wife, Cheryl, nee Engler, Logan;
a stepdaughter, Kristen Hoepfinger;
a stepson, Cal Hoepfinger;
a brother, Bob (Joan) Logan;
two sisters, Judy (Bill) Crispin, and Sheryl Davis;
a brother-in-law, Rick Ash;
nieces and nephews,
dear friends;
and his two dogs, Tucker and Toby.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evelyn’s House, to BJC Hospice, or to Gateway Pet Guardians. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Private burial services will be on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
