Mr. Valentine had worked as a diesel mechanic for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 30 years, and later for the Village of Smithton Street Department.
He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Valentine; his parents, Belmont and Rosemary, nee Ledbetter, Valentine; a brother, Belmont Valentine, Jr.; and a nephew, Adam Valentine.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia A., nee Riebeling, Valentine; two sons, Scott Valentine and Brent Valentine; a granddaughter, Amanda (Scott) Taylor; a grandson, Nicholas Valentine; a great-granddaughter, Willa Taylor; a sister, Peggy (James) Aschenbrenner of Morton, IL; three brothers, Danny Valentine of Smithton, IL, Corby (Sharon) Valentine of Freeburg, IL, and Timothy Valentine of Edwardsville, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Smithton City Cemetery, Smithton, IL.
