Miriam worked many years at Valentine’s Restaurant and later had Mimi’s Fish Stand in Smithton, IL, thanks to our Dad. Mim loved life to its fullest. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Smithton, IL, and a member of the Smithton Senior Center. Her friends were her life, including one special friend, Donna, who was like a sister. Mim enjoyed playing cards with her friends and going to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Marjorie, nee Ledbetter, Schilling; a brother-in-law, Herbert Arlt; and a great nephew, Jacob Cruikshank.
Surviving are her twin sisters, Marla (John) McCarey and Marsha Arlt; two nieces; three nephews; many great nieces and great nephews; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mim also had a special neighbor, Pat, who was always there for her. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts. Also special thanks to Mim’s caregiver, Eva, who went above and beyond. We will always be grateful for you.
