Mrs. Elam was a homemaker who enjoyed being with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude B. and Ruby E., nee Bowman, Simpson; one son, Bradley Elam; and one sister, Wanda Hemphill.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Alfred J. Elam, whom she married on June 6, 1946;
two sons, Gregory Elam (Pamela Irwin) of Swansea, IL,
and David (Loretta) Elam of California;
three grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandchild;
three sisters, Verla (Charles) Sullivan of Affton, MO
Dolores (Lewis) Shank of Florissant, MO,
and Thelma (Robert) Dehn of High Ridge, MO.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Robert Dyer officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
