Mrs. Goldschmidt was a loving wife and caring mom who passionately raised her four children. She supported them through their schooling at St. Teresa Grade School, Belleville East High School, Belleville Area College, and Saint Louis University. Pat was an avid spectator, following her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
A long-time member of St. Teresa Parish, Pat volunteered and participated in numerous activities and organizations, including most recently the Young-at-Heart Group. Pat was caring and compassionate; after raising her children, she became a care provider for several elderly family members and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Leland Goldschmidt, whom she married on February 19, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle, IL, and who died on November 26, 2003; an infant daughter, Susan Kay; her parents, Edward and Violet Spitz; two sisters, Georgia (Albert) Dalhaus and Evelyn (Paul) Winter; and a brother, Ralph Spitz.
Surviving are three sons, Steven (Cynthia) Goldschmidt of Lee’s Summit, MO;
John (Katy) Goldschmidt of O’Fallon, IL;
and Robert (Traci) Goldschmidt of Smithton, IL;
a daughter, Suzanne (Kevin) McClure of Webster Groves, MO;
and nine grandchildren who all lovingly referred to her as GG,
Brittany (Blake) Fletcher and Matthew Goldschmidt of Lee’s Summit, MO,
Emma and Lucas Goldschmidt of O’Fallon, IL,
Erin and Lauren Goldschmidt of Smithton, IL,
and Brian, Megan, and Kelly McClure of Webster Groves, MO.

I wish to express my “sympathy” to Pat’s family. My mother and father , who was Ed and Lizzie (Gehrs) Stevonson loved playing cards with Pat and Leland years ago. Pat and I were third cousins. Your parent’s were great people to know and they will be missed by all who knew them.
Love to all,
Helen Schulte, Belleville, IL, 62226
