Patricia L. “Trish” Kolditz, nee Canning, 87, of New Athens, IL, born August 31, 1930, in Belleville, IL, died Friday, December 29, 2017, at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, IL.

Mrs. Kolditz was a graduate of Washington University School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at Burnham Hospital, Champaign, IL, Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, IL, and for the American Red Cross before she started her family. She was a member of PEO Chapter HR, Belleville, IL, a 50-year member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Freeburg, IL chapter. Patricia was a member of and served as secretary for the New Athens Library Board for 18 years.  She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, New Athens, IL, and belonged to the Women’s Guild at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Helen, nee Eckert, Canning; and a brother, James E. (Patricia) Canning.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Loren C. Kolditz, whom she married on December 26, 1951;
two sons, Thomas (Kay) Kolditz of Houston, TX, and Daniel (Karen) Kolditz of Ballwin, MO;
four grandchildren, Jenna (Daniel) Bell of Colorado Springs, CO, Kerry (Matthew) Feeney of Boston, MA, and Jessica Marie Kolditz and Daniel Paul Kolditz Jr. both of Ballwin, MO;
and two great-grandchildren, Mary Ann Elizabeth and William Thomas Bell.

Memorials may be made to the Hoyleton Ministries to benefit the Hoyleton, IL, children’s home, or to New Athens Township Public Library.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, New Athens, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, New Athens, IL, with Rev. Dr. Robert Koch officiating.

Private burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, New Athens, IL

I am so sad to hear that Mrs Kolditz has passed. She was a very nice lady. My condolences to the family. Dan, please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. It’s hard to lose anybody, but especially hard to lose your parent.
