Pat retired as the legal assistant to the general counsel of Laclede Gas Company, where she had worked for 30 years. She was a longtime member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. In recent years, she was a doting wife and a great grandmother, literally and figuratively. She was sharp to the end, an avid reader with a timely sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jarvis” and Eva, nee Shellhorse, Swinney; four sisters, Maxine H. (Joe) Pruett, Hazel R. (Norman) Heinke, Marjorie I. (Bill) Kueneke and Louella (Joe) Sarmiento; and two brothers, James J. (Dorothy) Swinney and David R. Swinney.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Richard Hicks, whom she married on June 3, 1961; a daughter, Michelle (Scott) Moore of Edwardsville, IL; a son, David (Michelle) Hicks of Glen Carbon, IL; five grandchildren, Meghan (Brett) Duncan, Mallory (Andy) Studebaker, Mackenzie (Josh) Hasamear, Weston Hicks and Anna Hicks; ten great-grandchildren, Audrey, Ella and Catherine Duncan, Reagan Patricia, Maren, Levi, and Joe Studebaker, and Isla, Drew and Shep Hasamear; and many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed.
