Mrs. Wangelin as many of her students knew her, was a first-grade teacher at Belle Valley School District 119. She later retired after 20 years of teaching. Pat was a member of Christ United Church of Christ. Throughout, Pat’s working career and after her retirement, she spent many hours as a volunteer in the community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Wangelin, whom she married on August 14, 1954, at Christ Church, and who died May 23, 2004; her parents, Edmund L. and Henrietta E., nee Sutton, Rauth; and her grandson, Adam Wangelin.
Surviving are three children, Thomas C. (Julie) Wangelin Jr. of Palm Harbor, FL, Elisabeth A. (John) Bayer of Millstadt, IL, and Michael S. (Claudette) Wangelin of Freeburg, IL;
seven grandchildren, Kristopher Wangelin, Clayton Wangelin, Derek Mundloch, Natalee Bayer, Erica Wangelin, Bridgett Bayer, and Kourtney Bayer;
two great-grandchildren; Kaleigh Wangelin and Madyson Wangelin;
and one sister, Fay Farthing of Belleville, IL.
