Mr. Gaul was the owner and operator of Patrick W. Gaul Real Estate Company in Belleville. He also worked as an appraiser for the Veterans Administration and was a past president of the Belleville Board of Realtors. A 1950 graduate of Cathedral High School in Belleville, Pat was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran.
Pat had been a member of the Knights of Columbus Belleville Council 1028 and the Serra Club. He was a former member of the Belleville Jaycees, Belleville Elks Lodge BPOE 481, and the Belleville Exchange Club. He was a charter member of the Monday night “Belleville Wetbirds”. Pat was the greatest husband and best father anyone could ever want, as well as a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Gaul and Catherine M., nee Lang, Gaul Moore.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Sharon L., nee Wade, Gaul, whom he married on May 14, 1955, in Belleville, IL;
a son and two daughters, Patrick (Cindy) Gaul of Swansea, IL,
Angie (Chris) Wilkins of Belleville, IL,
and Erin Gaul of Belleville, IL;
three grandchildren, Ashley (Jon) Hofman,
and Madeline and Patrick Gaul;
a great-grandson, Isaac Hofman;
his sister, Ann Ellen Grimmer of Belleville, IL;
and his brother, William (Patricia) Gaul of Evanston, IL.
