In 1958 she began her education at a very early age at Mamie O. Stookey School for Retarded Children. She continued her education at S.A.V.E. (St. Clair Associated Vocational Enterprises) with ongoing training and developmental programs.
She briefly resided at Trinity Services Group home in Mascoutah, Illinois. Patti’s final years were spent under the loving care of her sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Galen Ford, in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Patti lived a full and active life. For many years she participated in Illinois Special Olympics. She treasured her medals and trophies won for bowling. Bowling as well as soft ball throw were her trademark events.
Patti enjoyed her leisure time with her own form of “Patti Solitaire.” She loved watching classic television, while snacking on her KitKats and peanut butter cups. She savored going out to eat, whether it was at the Chinese buffet or just picking up a cheeseburger.
She especially enjoyed the Christmas season and her birthday. She relished a good laugh and enjoyed teasing others. She will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Rita, nee Schmidt, Bien; her sister, Toni Kay Hannon; and her brother, Robert John Bien.
She is survived by her siblings, Suzanne Bien, Karen (John) Temporiti, and JoAnn (Galen) Ford. She was loved by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
