Retired U. S. Army First Sergeant Paul Joseph Bonde, 63, of Millstadt, IL, born July 14, 1951, in Manitowoc, WI, died Monday, April 20, 2015, in Belleville, IL.

Mr. Bonde formerly owned and operated Holiday Tours, Inc and Illini Environmental, both of Caseyville, IL.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council, Hecker, IL, and was also a member of the Polish American War Veterans.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert V. and Marie L, nee Jacobs, Bonde; two brothers, Mike and Rich Lutzke; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Rheinecker.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Catherine Mary, nee Krakowiecki, Bonde, whom he married on May 9, 1981;
four children, Stephanie (George) Matsantonis of Columbia, IL,
Heather (Craig) Ohlau of Edwardsville, IL,
Michael Bonde,
and Melissa (Charles) Whitney, both of Tennessee;
six grandchildren, Allison Bonde,
Evan and Kleopatra Matsantonis,
and Madelyn, Peyton, and Jocelyn Ohlau;
five sisters, Mary Gervais of California,
Pat (Warren) Bartash of Minnesota,
Jean Bonde (Tony Bowers) of Wisconsin,
Denise Thill of Wisconsin,
and Connie Oliver of Minnesota;
four sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Augustine (Tom Conner) of Grand Tower, IL,
Jean (Richard) Scott of Waterloo, IL;
Mary Lutzke of Idaho,
and Sylvia Lutzke of Kentucky;
three brothers-in-law, John (Patsy) Krakowiecki of Belleville, IL,
Steve Krakowiecki of Swansea, IL;
Joseph Rheinecker Jr. of O’Fallon, IL;
and nieces and nephews.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Charles Bohannon officiating.

Private interment with military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Cathy, our deepest sympathy. Paul was a great man and true friend. He will be missed by all that new him. Although we didn’t see each other after our tours in St Louis I spoke with him many times during the remainder of our military careers.
