Paul Norbet, Jr.

Print Obituary
Paul F. Norbet, Jr., 73, of Belleville, IL, born January 30, 1949, in Belleville, IL, died Thursday, February 17, 2022, in Naples, FL.

Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Donna Norbet, nee Huber
a son, Dr. Christopher Norbet (Laura Byzet);
a daughter, Dr. Shannon (Bill) Cormier;
two grandchildren, Jack and Luke Cormier;
a brother-in-law, David Huber (Gwenn Glover);
and many dear cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Paul F., and Irene A., nee Amelung, Norbet; and sister, Diane Norbet.

Paul was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Paul met his high school sweetheart, Donna, at Belleville West, and they continued their love at the University of Kansas. After graduation, they returned to Belleville to make a home and proudly raise their children.

Paul and Donna enjoyed many friendships and shared interests, including travel. He had a rule that trip itineraries were limited to a single museum or cathedral per day, but there was no limit to the number of sporting events or pubs.

Paul was a passionate sports fan and coach. He shared his love for the St. Louis Blues, Cardinals, and professional soccer with his son, Chris. They cheered on their teams in championship games and traveled to multiple World Cup tournaments. An avid golfer, Paul enjoyed hitting the greens and playing with many golfing buddies as well as his son-in-law, Bill. Paul’s favorite athletes were his grandsons, Jack and Luke, and he loved watching them play football and baseball.

Paul and his daughter, Shannon, enjoyed spending time together in the kitchen preparing meals for family and friends. He also volunteered his time packing lunches for the Illinois Summer Food Service Program, instituted to provide nutritious meals to underserved children during the summer months when school is not in session.

Paul was one of a kind and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made to the Mark Gessford Memorial Scholarship and sent directly to Belleville Township High School, District # 201, 920 N Illinois Street, Belleville, IL 62220, or to Zion Lutheran Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Paul and I delivered lunches together in the Zion summer lunch program. There is no doubt in my mind how much he loved his family. I would listen as he talked about his grandkids' sporting events so enthusiastically as if I was there. He would talk about his golf, watching with Chris the Blues winning the Stanley cup in Boston, soccer which we both enjoyed and his enjoyment of cooking. God's peace be with you all as you go through this week and after. Paul is in heaven with our loving Savior. He is in the best hands now.

Paul was certainly intense about golf, but his one true love was his family - he was most proud of his kids and grandkids. Unique in every way, including his squished bug marking on his golf ball. God grant his family peace and solace at this time.

Sincere condolences to the family of Paul's. His father, Dr. Paul Norbet, delivered my first child in 1960 and continued to be my family doctor until his passing. Happy to see that Paul, Jr. had continued in his father's footsteps.
