Raymond D. Dotson, 91, of Freeburg, IL, born May 4, 1929, in Iron County, MO, died Sunday, May 2, 2021, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.

Mr. Dotson worked in the shipping department of Cerro Copper, Sauget, IL, before his retirement.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Bertha, nee Turner, Dotson; six brothers, Charlie, Jessie, Walter (Joanne), Marvin, Tommy, and Ray Don (Betty) Dotson; a sister, Norma Jean (Donald) Baker, and two brothers-in-law, Myron Hopping and Dennis Starkey.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Theresa E., nee Siegel, Dotson, whom he married on August 2, 1958;
a son, Anthony (Debbie) Dotson;
two daughters, Kathy (Ronald) Renth, and Barbara (Bernard) Lauzon;
a grandson, Matthew (Holly) Renth;
two step-grandchildren, Rachel (Chuck) Laminack and Joey (Amber) Walsh;
five step-great-grandchildren, Keagan and Klarissa Laminack, and Hunter, Joseph, and Blayke Walsh;
a brother, Earl (Laura) Dotson;
three sisters, Ruthie (Virgil) Baker, Erma Dean Hopping, Collen Starkey;
two sisters-in-law, Lydia Dotson, and Lethel Dotson;
and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL. Standard CDC guidelines, including masks and social distancing, will be observed.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, with Rev. Doug Stewart officiating.

Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.

We are so sorry for your loss. Always enjoyed our chat's when walking the dogs....and you and Theresa would put a bowl of water for us. He will be missed by many.

Raymond was a great guy I worked with him a lot of years. Sorry I didn't see the notice in time to come to the visitation.

I’m sorry for your loss to you Thresea and all the family. I will miss him very much too. Our lives constantly change but when death strikes, it’s one of the hardest things we have to face…We are glad he isn’t suffering anymore but the void will always be there…know how much we loved him too.. Erma

So sorry for your family’s loss. I remember fondly how he would sit out front in his lawn chair and talk to me everyday when I delivered the mail. He was always so kind to me.
