Mr. Goers worked for Illinois American Water Company, where he retired as the business manager in 1994. He was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Belleville, IL. He enjoyed sports and was an avid St. Louis Blues hockey fan. Dick was a former Little League baseball and recreational basketball coach and loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Richard was a U. S. Army Korean War veteran.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Nina, nee Lund, Goers; and three brothers, Lyle Goers, Harold (Doris) Goers, and Howard (Mary Thomas) Goers.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Carole, nee Juehring, Goers, whom he married on October 14, 1956; his children, Debra (Brian) Johnson of Clinton, IA, Lynn Glass of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and Scott (Colleen) Goers of Wildwood, MO; seven grandchildren, Cari (David) Fromm, Sarah (Mary) Conroy, Claire Johnson, Ashley (Mark) Hanson, Jacob (Kathryn) Glass, and Zachary and Nicholas Goers;
and nine great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Brooklyn, Jacksyn, George, and Griffyn Fromm, Helen and Richard Glass, Harper and Vera Hanson, and Baby Boy Conroy, due in November.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, with Rev. Herbert Schafale officiating.
Burial will be in Lowden, IA, at a later date.
