Richard M. “Rich” Remelius, 90, of Swansea, IL, born February 7, 1929 in Belleville, IL, died Friday, October 11, 2019, at St. Paul’s Senior Community, Belleville, IL.

Mr. Remelius owned and operated Rich’s Auto Body Shop. He enjoyed refurbishing antique cars and pedal toy cars.  He was a member of the Antique Car Club and the Experimental Aircraft Association.  Rich was a parishioner of St. Henry’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Evelyn, nee Scher, Remelius.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Jeanette C., nee Weissert, Remelius, whom he married on June 7, 1949;
three sons, Robert (Craig) Remelius of Plainfield, IN, Gary (fiancée Elaine Rockeman) Remelius of Swansea, IL, and Jeff (Shenandoah) Remelius of Flower Mound, TX;
three daughters, Carol (Phillip) Smithpeters of Fayetteville, GA, Pamela (Rodney) Biehl of St. Louis, MO, and Mary (Glenn) Friederich of Waterloo, IL;
13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson;
and two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Wager, and Jean (Bill) Lambert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2019, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2019, St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth York officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.
