Rita L. Degenhardt, nee Glauber, 91, of Alhambra, IL, born March 19, 1924, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at Meridian Village, Glen Carbon, IL.

Mrs. Degenhardt was a 20-year employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company before her marriage.  She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Edwardsville, IL.  Rita enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandsons.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Martin C. Degenhardt, whom she married on April 28, 1962, and who died on December 5, 2005; her parents, Joseph and Anna Marie, nee Bauer, Glauber; one brother, Eugene (Ann) Glauber; and two sisters, Sister Francis Paula Glauber, SSND, and Margaret Virginia Glauber, in infancy.

Surviving are two daughters, Lynn (Jerry) Barnes of Creve Coeur, MO,
and Carol (Barry) Degenhardt-Basham of Belleville, IL;
two grandsons, Andrew and Eric Barnes;
a brother, Joe (Aurelia) Glauber of Belleville, IL;
and a sister-in-law, Hilde Degenhardt of Swansea, IL.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 110 N. Buchanan St., Edwardsville, IL, with Father Jeffrey Goeckner officiating.  Burial will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
