Mr. Becker retired from the Bank of America, St. Louis, MO. He was an active member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Parish, Belleville, IL, where he was ordained a Catholic deacon on October 18, 1980. He spent much time in service to the church, including early days as a member of the Cathedral Players Guild and as a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Janssen Assembly 0199. Bob was also a member and past president of the Cathedral Holy Name Society, served on the RCIA team, and taught at the Parish School of Religion.
As a father, he was a member of both the Cathedral School Board and the Parent-Teacher Organization for Exceptional Children (PTOEC).
Bob belonged to several lay groups, such as the Secular Franciscans, as well as the Victorious Missionaries at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, where he had formerly served on the board.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer P. and Irene C., nee Stein, Becker; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Irene (Floyd) Mueller, Paul Haas, Viola (Albert) Eros, Florence (Oliver) Dahm, and Henry I. (Marlene) Haas.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Catherine S., nee Haas, Becker, whom he married on June 8, 1961;
three daughters, Elaine M. (Joseph) Komos of Ballwin, MO,
Monica L. Becker of Belleville, IL,
and Carolyn A. (Dr. Narayan) Nair of Middletown, MD;
five grandchildren, Megan and William Komos,
and Mira, Calina, and Adin Nair;
two sisters-in-law, Rita Haas of St. Louis, MO,
and Jane Haas of Red Bud, IL;
and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 27, at St. Peter’s Cathedral with Msgr. John Myler, Msgr. James Buerster, Father Dennis Voss, and Bishop Stanley Schlarman concelebrating. Burial will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
