Robert had an infectious laugh and the ability to make anyone smile just by being around his tenacious spirit. Robert was generous and had a great sense of humor. He was a huge baseball fan and loved cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. Robert endured dialysis treatments for 18 years. He was an inspiration to other dialysis patients. The family thanks all the nurses and doctors that gave him excellent care over the years. He spent his life making the most of all that he had with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Theresa, nee Kujawa, Hughes; and a brother, Ronald Hughes.
He leaves behind his children that he loved dearly, Jessten Hughes, Lance Jones, Ally Evans, Brandy (Calin) Cronin, and a grandbaby, Kynlee Cronin, arriving in December. He also leaves behind his sister, Juanita (Richard) Fann, and his niece and nephew, Sarah Fann and Bradley Fann, and his special lifelong friend, Sherry.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Burial will be held at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL, at a later date.
