Mr. Scharringhausen was a graduate of Washington University, St. Louis, MO, and was an active alumnus for the engineering school. He worked for Boeing until retirement, then ran LLC for three years. He was a life-time member of Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL, where he served on many committees and held many positions. Bob loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He especially loved to host many parties. He was a U. S. Army Korean War veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline J. Scharringhausen, nee Green, whom he married on August 26, 1950, and who died on December 27, 2005; his parents, Gustav and Mary, nee Elge, Scharringhausen; three sisters, Laverne Nickel, Grace Scaiefe, and Doris Friemann; five brothers, Elgen, Kenneth, Dean, and Dale Scharringhausen, and Rayland Marvel; and one son-in-law, Eric Hubbard.
He is survived by a son, Robert Jr. (Cynthia) Scharringhausen of Belleville, IL;
a daughter, Deborah Hubbard of O’Fallon, IL;
four grandchildren, Nathan (Autymn) Hubbard, Emilee Hubbard, Robert III (Jennifer) Scharringhausen, and Brian (Michelle)Scharringhausen;
six great-grandchildren, Kailee Hubbard, Wyatt Hubbard, and Brooke, Paige, and Levi Scharringhausen, and Raelynn Patterson;
one brother-in-law, Wayne (Vera) Green;
two sisters-in-law, Shirley Green, and Marlene Craig;
special friend and companion, Audrey Hanlon and her family and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL, with the Rev. Brian Downs officiating.
Burial with military honors will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
