Roland was a retired farmer, member of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau, former president and board member of Lenzburg Farmers Co-op Grain Company, and a former board member of the Freeburg Grade School. He was currently a member of Union United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL. Roland also belonged to the Freeburg Masonic Lodge 418, Freeburg Order of the Eastern Star 542, and the Broad Hollow Grange.
Roland enjoyed wood working and crafted many miniature tractors, trucks, and whirligigs. He also enjoyed gardening and farming and would spend his days from dawn to dusk working the fields. Even after retiring, he continued to be interested in his farm.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Heidenreich and Kent Heidenreich; his parents, John and Mary, nee Knoblauch, Heidenreich; a son-in-law, Robert Parker; a brother-in-law, Rev. Fred Hammond; and an uncle, Nicholas Heidenreich.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Elsie M. Heidenreich, nee Hesse, whom he married on June 5, 1949; two daughters, Rosemarie Heidenreich Parker and Kay (Greg) Zimmerman; a son, Michael (Cathy) Heidenreich; eight grandchildren, Erik (Maggie) Heidenreich, Andrew Heidenreich, Katrina (Dan) Brooks, Lindsey (Landon) Dinnin, Shelby (Todd) Lathrop, Nikki Zimmerman, Lucas (Katelyn) Heidenreich, and Madelaine (David) Robbins; two great-grandchildren, George and Maisie Heidenreich; a sister, Helen Hammond; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Heidenreich; and cousins, nephews and nieces, and friends.
