Ronald Dale Croissant, 81, of Freeburg, IL, born April 9, 1940, in East St. Louis, IL, died Sunday, January 9, 2022, at his residence.

Ronald enlisted in the United States Army Corps Reserve after graduating high school. He served as a proud cook from 1963 to 1969. He also received marksmanship awards with his rifle. Ronald worked in St. Louis at Savage Foods as a laborer and retired in 1998. He met his beloved wife Linda in East St. Louis, and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary February 24, 2022. Ronald was completely dedicated to his family and attended all his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL. Ronald was a lifetime member of the Ainad Shriners, the Gothic Lodge #852, and the Scottish Rite Masons, and past Master Counselor of the A.D. Manors Chapter of the Order of DeMolay. Ronald’s passions were reading, working in the yard, tinkering around in the garage, woodworking, bird watching, gardening, and watching westerns. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Sr. and Dorothy, nee Guyton, Croissant.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Linda Lou, nee Farthing, Croissant; two daughters, Denise Conder and Deanna (Brad Clossen) Croissant-Clossen; four grandchildren, Darci and Cal Clossen, and Aidan and Ellie Conder; a brother, Adrian (Norma) Croissant, Jr; and numerous nieces and nephew.

Memorials may be made to the BJC Foundation for Hospice, or St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL. Masks are required.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL, with Rev. Gregg Haege and Rev. Rick Mortimer officiating. Masks are required.

Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.

I have known Dale since 5th grade at Slade School in East St. Louis. He lived on 24th street and I lived on 25th street. We were in DeMolay together. After I moved to Arizona we talked frequently on the phone. I will miss my best friend from High School.
