Ronald C. Reuss, 76, of Smithton, IL, died Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Mount Vernon Health Care Center, Mt. Vernon, IL.

Mr. Reuss was born on December 26, 1946, in Belleville, IL, the son of Harold and Georgianna, nee Erb, Reuss. Ronald was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Belleville, IL. He graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1964. Ronald was a United States Navy veteran and served in the Vietnam War from 1964-1968 as an Interior Communication Technician on the Carrier USS Independence, CVA-62. Ronald retired from AT&T after 32 years of service as a cable splicer in construction. He was a member of the Communication Workers of America Union (CWA Local 4217). Ronald was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hiking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Reuss; and a nephew, John Reuss.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Brenda, nee Land, Reuss, whom he married on June 22, 1968; a son, Brian (Carla) Reuss; a grandson, Brison Reuss; a granddaughter, Evelyn Reuss, all of Smithton, IL;
and an aunt, Dolly Counts of St. Louis, MO.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Ghost United Church of Christ, Darmstadt, IL or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Tarrah Vaupel officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at Holy Ghost UCC Cemetery, Darmstadt, IL.
