Rosalie Marie Neff, nee Rausch, 81, of Smithton, IL, born June 20, 1942, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Rosalie was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL, where she not only worked as a secretary for 43 years but also contributed to the Women’s Club, helped with planning luncheons, the annual picnic, baking Easter cookies, and so much more. She was a very devout Catholic who lived her life for God. If there was any event that the church was having, Rosalie was there every step of the way to lend a hand.  She also contributed to St. John the Baptist Catholic School, making lunch for the students once a week.

Rosalie worked at Hecker Community Center for 30 years, helping plan events and prepare food.  She was a very active member in her community where almost everyone knew her name. She will be deeply missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Norman A. Neff, whom she married on May 26, 1962, and who died on December 13, 2012; a daughter, Linda M. Pass; her parents, Abigail (Abby) and Opportuna Rausch; and her stepfather, Wilfred Cortner.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Sean (Madison) Pass and Lauren (Justin) Voracek;
a great-grandson, August Voracek;
a daughter, Beverly Ann (Kevin) Kaemmerer;
two sisters, Geraldine Dashner and Marian (Nick) Austin;
two brothers, Larry (Sandy) Cortner, Marvin (Maria) Cortner;
and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL, St. John the Baptist Catholic School, Smithton, IL, or in the form of masses at your favorite church.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2023, at John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10 South Lincoln, Smithton, IL 62285.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Stanley Konieczny and Reverend Kenneth York concelebrating.

Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Smithton, IL.

It saddens me deeply that we are out of town and cannot express our condolences properly. Rosie was a second mom to me though our years at st johns she was the sweetest lady and will be missed dearly. She was the only lady who could take instant potatoes and make them taste like real potatoes my family sends our deepest sympathies to all the family

I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Neff was wonderful! Great cook, wonderful lady, always welcoming and very kind to all. I was in German Dancing with Beverly & Linda and Mrs. Neff always took care of us!

The Ruhmann family were neighbors to the Rausch/Cortners and the kids visited each other. They were an awesome family. Many hugs and prayers to everyone.
