Mrs. Sheer was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who had a deep faith and often prayed to St. Teresa. She enjoyed going to the casinos, putting puzzles together, playing cards, and could be considered a pinochle shark. She enjoyed all sports, and especially loved Cardinal baseball and Notre Dame football.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert H. Sheer, whom she married on June 10, 1950, and who died on April 14, 2018; her parents, Edward and Agnes, nee Schrader, Richard; a sister, Rita (Russ) Buehlhorn; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Howard and Helen Sheer; and a brother-in-law, Jack Sheer.
Surviving are three daughters, Judith A. (Tom) Hoff, Susan L. Sheer (Rick) Mauch, and Debra K. (Kirk) Petchulat; three granddaughters, Kristin S. (Tim) Smith, Elle L. Cutler (fiancé, Jordan Osmack), and Rachel E. (Kermit) Bravo; two grandsons, Elliot W. Mauch and Stuart C. Mauch; three great-grandchildren, Austin M. Smith, Jack T. Smith, and Charlotte H. Smith; and loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2023, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2023, at St. Peter’s Cathedral with Rev. Godfrey Mullen, OSB, officiating.
Private burial will be at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
