Rosemarie worked at the American Heart Association in Tulsa, OK, and then again in St. Louis, MO. She loved bowling, basketball, and golf. She was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan. Rosemarie loved trains and they had been one of her favorite things since she was a little girl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roman J. and Paula, nee Dahlmann, Hechenberger, and Roy “Spike” and Ceal Smith; six sisters, Marie Voelker, Paula Jacobs, Sister Romana Hechenberger SSND, Henrietta Hechenberger, Theodora Grummel, and Kathleen Grimm; six brothers, Charlie and Johnny Beckfeld, Herman, Joseph, and Edward Hechenberger and Roy Smith; her spouse, Ben Lodes; a son-in-law, Rick Walta; a great-granddaughter, Clara Louise Lodes; and a niece, Karla Smith.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas (Robin) Lodes of Belleville, IL, Dennis (Barbara) Lodes of Belleville, IL, and Gary (Margo) Lodes of Jacksonville, FL;
three daughters, Elaine Walta of Belleville IL, Kathy Koleszar of Belleville, IL, and Lisa Robateau of Tulsa, OK;
14 grandchildren, Eric Walta, Katie (Steve) Edstrom, Mike (Erin) Lodes, Jennifer (Zachary) VanBibber, Steve (Cecilia) Lodes, Kristen (James) Inscoe, Shea Lodes, Jillian (Erwin) Matthews, Matthew Lodes, Carolyn Lodes, Jacob Koleszar, Ella Robateau, Joseph Lodes, and Anna Lodes;
12 great-grandchildren, Brayden and Brody Walta, Alice and Brennan Edstrom, Grace and Sam Lodes, Ava VanBibber, Nolen and Collin Lodes, Noah and Fiona Inscoe, and Theodore Matthews;
two sisters, Therese (Al) Hartmann and Sharon (Janie) Smith;
a brother, Tom (Fran) Smith;
and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday January 22, 2019, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. David Darin officiating.
Interment will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Belleville, IL.
