Roy was a graduate of Belleville West High School. He served in the United States Navy, and worked as an equipment operator at Monsanto Company. On October 14, 1958, Roy married the love of his life, Helen Dahlmann, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, where they were lifelong members. He was a Eucharistic Minister and assisted with the Come Share program at St. Peter’s Cathedral. Roy and Helen enjoyed traveling, playing cards with family and friends, and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Roy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Evelyn Kloess; two sisters, Evelyn (Engelbert) Snyder and Doris (Kenneth) Sindel; a brother, Larry (Mildred) Kloess; two brothers-in-law, William (Kay) Dahlmann and Robert (LaVerna) Dahlmann; and a sister-in-law, Maryann Dahlmann.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen; seven children, Bryan (Jovita) Kloess, Renee (Bill) Bailey, Jo’nell (Chuck) Schmittling, Duane (Peggy) Kloess, Vicki (Tab) Walker, Michael (Laura) Kloess, and Karen (Craig) Williams; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Kloess; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the form of masses at St. Peter’s Cathedral or to Our Lady of Hope Clinic (ourladyofhopeclinic.com). Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. John Myler officiating. Masks are required.
Burial will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
