Mrs. Whitmore was a 1948 graduate of Marissa High School, Marissa, IL. She worked at the Sparta Savings and Loan until she married and started her family. She later worked as a seamstress at the Martha Manning Garment Company, Mascoutah, IL, and continued her career at the St. Clair County Animal Shelter, the Women’s Crisis Center, St. Clair Associated Vocational Enterprises (SAVE), and at Wal-Mart before her retirement.
Ruby enjoyed baking, crafts, quilting, sewing, growing houseplants, and working in her flower garden, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Freeburg, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence V. and Bessie May, nee Williams, Dean; a sister, Mildred Rogers; two brothers, Eldridge and Leroy Dean; a brother-in-law, Robert Rogers; a sister-in-law, Marie, nee Brumley, Dean; and a son-in-law, James Braun.
Surviving are her son, John (Pat) Whitmore of Freeburg, IL;
a daughter, Joanne Braun of Red Bud, IL;
four grandchildren, Jason Braun of Salt Lake City, UT, Roberta (Ronald) Weidler of Belleville, IL, Laura (Michael) Murillo of Pueblo West, CO, and Stephanie Whitmore;
three great-grandchildren, Michael, Kayleigh, and Elena;
three great-great-grandchildren;
two brothers, Clifford Dean and Cecil (Donna) Dean;
a sister-in-law, Myrtle Dean;
and nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Tilden City Cemetery, Tilden, IL.
