Hi Jeff, sorry to hear you have lost your dear mother.
Dorothy Cherry, Bellevile, ,
Dear members of the Fries Family,
I am sorry to learn of Mrs. Fries passing. My mother and I sat at the table next to Ruth’s in the Apartment dining room for several months. Ruth and I had pleasant conversations and I knew Mabel, one of Ruth’s Pinochle partners.
Like Ruth, I worked for many years in schools, (Marquette High School in Alton, Southwestern Illinois and Forest Park Community College) until I developed Lou Gehrig’s disease at fifty -two. I was very grateful that my brother was able to purchase from Mrs. Fries, at a quite reasonable price the motorized scooter that had been her brother’s. This vehicle makes my life much easier on the long halls of St. Paul’s nursing home, where my mother and I now live. I will always be grateful for Ruth’s kindness.
God bless her and her family.

We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Ruth Fries. May all of your great and happy memories help you through this difficult time of sorrow. She was such a wonderful person to work with at East. I will never forget her and the way she handled the students she had to work with – always smiling!

Expressing my sympathy. Ruth was my “tablemate” at St Paul’s Retirement apartment and I enjoyed her company. She was very proud of her family. My prayers are with all of you.
