Mrs. Rhodes was a 1953 graduate of Belleville Township High School, Belleville, IL. She worked as an executive secretary for the United Way of Greater St. Louis for 16 years before her retirement. She was a member of 1st United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, IL.
Sandy and Don were married for 62 years and shared a life filled with joy, love, happiness and numerous military locations. She was an avid bowler for many years, serving as President of the league while stationed in Taiwan. She served on the board while a member of the NCO wives club. She loved playing cards, games and dancing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Sandy was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Hofmeister; her father, Fred Glatz; her mother, Dorothy, nee Bright, Wilson; grandparents John and Stella Bright; a sister, Catherine “Kitty” Miller; great-uncle, John Glatz; uncles, John and Kenneth Bright; aunts, Alma Hayes, Wanda Greene, Gertrude McCord, Viola Bright; and several cousins.
She is survived by her dear husband, Donald B. Rhodes, whom she married on June 23, 1956 at United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL, by the Reverend Eugene Leckrone;
a daughter, Cheryl L. Fleck of San Antonio, TX;
a son, Donald B. Rhodes Jr. of Lebanon, IL;
a son-in-law, Duane Hofmeister of Freeburg, IL;
seven grandchildren, Michelle (Blake) Hutchcraft, Todd Hofmeister, Vanessa (Pat) Bailey, Brandon Fleck, Dustin Fleck, Danielle (Clint) Hyatt, and D.J. Rhodes;
four great-grandchildren, Kaleb Hustedde, Alexandria Plewniak, Kayden Hutchcraft, and Trinity Fleck;
numerous cousins;
and many wonderful friends.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018, at 1st United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Rob Dyer officiating.
Private burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
