Sandra Marie Strobl, nee Peek, 64, of Belleville, IL, born January 21, 1953, in Aviston, IL, died Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Sandra was the head cashier at Dierberg’s Market.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerhard Peek; a sister, Darlene Peek; a brother, Glen Peek; a niece, Charity Peek; a nephew, Dylan Peek; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Alma Schindler.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, John W. Strobl, whom she married on October 26, 1974;
one daughter, Leah M. (Edward) Zilla, of Worcester, MA,
one son, J. Ryan Strobl of O’Fallon, IL;
a grandson, Austin David Zilla;
her mother, Arlene, nee Schrage, Peek of Aviston, IL;
three brothers, Dale (Paula) Peek,
Gary Peek,
and Kevin Peek, all of Aviston, IL;
two sisters, Deb (Linus) Buehne,
and Kate (Jim) Buehne, both of St. Rose, IL;
a sister-in-law, Judy (Joe) Gundlach of Columbia, IL;
and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at St.
Luke’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Aviston, IL.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sandy and I were High School Classmates and friends, although these last few years we have not been close we always managed to stay in touch. Her whole hearted laughter and warm friendly smile will be forever missed. Unfortunately I am unable to attend the funeral but my thoughts and prayers will be with you all. I will remember her as one the best person I have ever know. It is sad that for period of time we had a good friendship. Than lost contact for past 15 years or so. God has a great person with him now.
