Sharon K. Heinzl, 81, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022, in Belleville, IL. She was born on June 23, 1941, at home, in Woodlawn, IL, to Mary Edith Payne. She is the granddaughter of Morton E. and Alta B. Wood, both of Woodlawn, IL.

Sharon is a retired registered nurse, she received her nursing degree at St. Joseph school of Nursing, Alton, IL. Sharon loved to cook for large groups, sewing, crocheting, and going camping with neighbors and Girl Scouts. She was a past Mothers Club President at Cathedral, the last president of the Southside Ladies, and Girl Scout leader. She was awarded the St. Ann and St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Awards. Sharon was a member of the St. Clair Beekeepers Association and was part of the organizing of the Catholic Committee on Girl Scouting in Belleville Diocese. She also enjoyed being part of the Cathedral Bingo Club with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph F. Heinzl Jr., whom she married on November 6, 1965; and a sister-in-law, Rose Marie Heinzl.

She is survived by their daughter, Angela (Mathew) Waterbury of Belleville IL;
two stepdaughters, Nancy (Richard) Lane of Columbia IL, and Audrey (Harold) Morgan of Farmington, MO;
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
two brothers-in-law, Raymond (JoAnn) Heinzl and Charles (Barbara) Heinzl;
a stepsister, Virigina Budney, of Chicago, IL;
several dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren;
and not to forget her dog, Mia and her cat, Gracie.

Angela, My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I knew your Mom and Dad and you from Southside and all the fish fries and Christmas parties. I always enjoyed talking with both of them. Your Dad always called my daughter “George” when she was growing up. You can be sure your Mom and Dad are reunited in Heaven! You all are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
