Shirley M. Truttmann, nee Munie, 93, of Belleville, IL, born December 31, 1923, in O’Fallon, IL, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at her residence in O’Fallon, IL.

Mrs. Truttmann retired from St. Mary School in Belleville where she was a teacher for 29 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome J. and Mary Elizabeth, nee Lanter, Munie; an aunt, Clara Lanter; three brothers, Melvin Munie, D.E. (Patricia) Munie, and Leland (Geraldine) Munie; brother-in-law, Louis Villemain; and one foster brother, Robert (Dolly) Raish.

Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Calvin A. Truttmann whom she married on June 18, 1947;
three sons, Robert (Ellen) Truttmann of Maryville, IL, Terry (Lisa) Truttmann of Edwardsville, IL, and Rick (Nancy) Truttmann of Smithton, IL;
two daughters, Sherry (Greg) Determan of Norfolk, VA, and Marijo (Steve) Klingler of Belleville, IL;
15 grandchildren, Cori (Jason) Stanczyk, Chad (Carolyn) Schloemann, Michelle (Kip) Upton, Jennifer Barnhart,
Kent (Amanda) Determan, Jeffrey (Sarah) Determan, Sean Truttmann, Jayson Truttmann, Joe Garwood, Zach Garwood,
Lauren (Cory) Kempter, Matthew (Amy) Truttmann, Allison (Tyler Whitty) Truttmann, Jonathan Klingler, and Lisa (Adam) Guebert;
15 great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Calvin Stanczyk, Greyson and Ford Determan, Amelia and Audrey Determan, Jacob Truttmann,
and Tanner and Oliver Truttmann, Adam Schloemann, Harrison, Madelyn, and Cooper Upton, and Jackson and Brody Barnhart;
a sister, Jeannine Villemain;
a sister-in-law, Kay Munie;
and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to HSHS Hospice Southern Illinois or in the form of memorial Masses. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee and Father Christopher Anyanwu concelebrating.

Cremation service will follow the Mass.

Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, IL, at a later date.

I had Mrs. Truttmann when I was in grade school. Wonderful teacher.

Shirley taught our children at St Mary's. She was well liked as a teacher and friend. Prayers go out to the families.
