Stephen was a kind and loving husband, son, father, and brother who will be greatly missed by those who knew him. His caring nature and willingness to lend a helping hand will be treasured always.
Stephen was a 1986 graduate of Belleville West High School. He enjoyed being a housing inspector for the City of Belleville for 26 years. He loved bicycling, especially the Tour de Belleville. He loved tinkering with his vehicles, enjoyed yardwork, barbequing, and loved to take hikes with his family. Stephen had patience and love for everyone. He especially adored his children and wife of 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Hickey; his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy Phillips; his paternal grandparents, Dennis III and Dorothy Hickey; two aunts, Doris Hickey and Sydney Tally Hickey; and an uncle, Charles (Lilly) Kreitner.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Linda, nee Fitzgerald, Hickey;
three daughters, Miranda N. Hickey, Madelyn P. Hickey and Malaina R. Hickey;
his mother, Judith, nee Phillips, Bemowski;
two brothers, Thomas M. Hickey and Joseph C. Hickey;
aunts and uncles; Douglas and Kathy Phillips, Larry and Cindy Phillips, Dennis J. Hickey IV, and Kathleen Kehrer;
a nephew, Charles Hickey;
a special cousin, Carol Gene Kreitner;
and many dear cousins.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022, at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
